Kenyan football is celebrating another milestone as Harambee Stars prospect Job Ochieng has officially extended his contract with Spanish club Real Sociedad B. The 21-year-old striker, who has been making waves in Spain’s lower leagues, will remain with the Basque side until at least June 2026.

Job Ochieng’s journey from Nairobi’s Ligi Ndogo academy to the competitive environment of Spanish football is a testament to his determination and talent. After initial setbacks—including a rejection by Las Palmas—Ochieng’s fortunes changed when he caught the eye of Real Sociedad’s scouts. He ed Real Sociedad B in July 2023 and has since become a key member of the team. Primarily featuring as a right winger and occasionally on the left flank. Standing at 185 cm, Ochieng’s physicality and technical ability have made him a formidable presence in attack.

His development has been steady and impressive. In the 2023/24 season, Ochieng made 19 appearances for Real Sociedad B in the Primera Federación, Spain’s third tier. He has continued to feature regularly this season, logging over 1,200 minutes across all competitions. His performances have not only earned him a contract extension. He also increased attention from both the Kenyan national team coach and European football circles.

Beyond his personal achievements, Ochieng’s new deal is a boon for his former academy, Ligi Ndogo. Reports indicate that the Kenyan youth outfit is set to receive a significant fee, estimated at Ksh20 million, as part of the transfer agreement. This windfall is a rare and welcome reward for a local academy. Highlighting the growing value of Kenyan talent on the international stage.
